ABOUT

I’m a 23 year old Chinese-American young man who is in love with the fragrance culture. I left home (California, USA) in 2007, leaving everything/everyone behind to follow my passion for perfumery and my passion to create. Like my father, I consider myself an artist but backed by the curiosity to understand how things work (science). I am currently an assistant perfumer in France.

Led by curiosity, it is my desire to learn and smell everything that I can, so that one day I could find a artistic synergy among my olfactive vocabulary, my creativity, and good perfumery technique to create fragrances at all levels: artistic fragrances, fine fragrances, "niche" fragrances, candles, creams, soaps, etc.

I am interested in the intelligent commercial construction of fragrances. I am also curious about every aspect of perfumery from its history to molecular design to marketing to consumer psychology.

I write because almost no one writes about perfumery. I write to induce other professionals to write. I write to search for someone who might understand my passion, my obsession and joy to smell and create. I write not for my myself, as a “showman,” or for my ego, but for the advancement of perfumery. I write with restraint to not reveal the “secrets” of this industry; instead, I write to share my passion and to educate the consumers who have evolved to be desperately curious like me. Nothing here is truth but my impressions and interpretations of my senses. I write humbly as a beginner. I write with my limited maturity in this industry and hope that someone will come and correct my misconceptions and errors of thought.
